RELEASE: Kresha sworn-in for second term

Tuesday, January 6, 2015
SAINT PAUL, MN—Representative Ron Kresha, R-Little Falls, was officially sworn-in for his second term Tuesday as the legislature began the 2015 session.

"It's a great honor to begin my second term at the legislature, and I'm looking forward to working hard on behalf of the residents of Morrison and Todd County," Kresha said. "The Republican majority is ready to get to work and offer practical solutions to the problems our state faces. Improving education for our students, caring for our seniors, and fixing our state's roads and bridges are just a few of the many issues we look forward to addressing in 2015."

Kresha, who was first elected in 2012, was elected Assistant Majority Leader by his peers last month, and will serve as Vice Chair of the Education Finance Committee. He will also serve as a member of the Commerce and Regulatory Reform Committee, the Education Innovation Policy Committee, and the Rules and Legislative Administration Committee. During his first term, Kresha was a vocal proponent of broadband expansion in Greater Minnesota, as well as increased funding for nursing homes and long-term care facilities for seniors and the disabled. In October 2014, Kresha was named by Governor Mark Dayton to the Governor's Task Force on Child Protection, the lone representative from the House Republican Caucus.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, Kresha delivered a speech seconding the motion made by Rep. Jenifer Loon, R-Eden Prairie, to formally nominate and elect Kurt Daudt, R-Crown, the next Speaker of the House.

Kresha lives in Little Falls with his wife, Wendy and their five children. He is a former school board member, and currently works as the CEO of Golden Shovel Agency, an economic development company that manages digital communications for rural cities and counties.
