Dear Friends,

Next week I'm looking forward to welcoming House Speaker Kurt Daudt to Willmar. I invited the Speaker to our area to discuss what we worked hard on this past session as well as the work left to be done next year. We will be up in New London visiting NLS High School, and then back down to Willmar for a meeting at Rice Care Center. Education and seniors were a big part of our work, with significant new funding for K-12 and pre-K as well as new funding for our seniors all while holding spending to a responsible level.

We'll finish off the day with a broadband meeting with area small businesses, telecommunications experts, and Kandiyohi County Economic Development officials. Looking forward to a productive day of discussion and hearing from folks about their priorities for next year, and I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.

It was so great to reconnect with one if my very first employees that I worked with at the Holiday Inn in Willmar 21 years ago. Luella Gunderson celebrated her 94th birthday on Oct 10th, and we enjoyed a great breakfast at the Hillcrest restaurant. Happy Birthday Luella!

Also congratulations to Kandiyohi County with the all new Leachate Water system just installed at our County Landfill. This new technology takes all the fluids and liquids from garbage and funnels it to a system that treats it on site to actual drinking water standards. Currently the County was trucking all the captured liquids daily to the Metro for treatment, and this has all ended and this new system is the first one in the Nation! I was proud to be on hand for this. It is a great win for the environment and our precious tax dollars.

Have a great weekend and please watch for the Farm equipment on the roads these days! It looks like the harvest will be wonderful!

Have a great weekend,

Dave
