Greater MN Committee comes to Willmar

Monday, November 9, 2015

Dear Friends,

I can't thank Betsy Bonnema from Work Up and Jim Sieben from Life Sciences enough for the overview of our MinnWest Technology Campus to the Greater Minnesota Economic & Workforce Development Committee that stopped in last week.

A special thank you as well to Tyler Gehrking and the amazing Kandiyohi CEO students that shared why they love learning at area businesses every day. This program that connects aspiring entrepreneurs and business students with local business leaders is only found in two locations around Minnesota. ACGC, Willmar and NLS Districts are into their 2nd year and we are growing our next entrepreneurs. In 8 month these kids will have connected with more business professionals in 8 months than some do in 5 or more years. They will start their own real business, host a trade show and so much more. We are so lucky to have this great program for juniors and seniors. The committee was very impressed!

I am looking forward to hosting House Education Finance Committee Chair Rep. Jen Loon later this week for a tour of one of our schools and to meet with teachers and other school officials. Rep. Loon has been traveling the state to hear directly from those on the ground what we at the legislature can do to help our schools and make it easier for each kid to get a great education. I will send along a recap of that visit later on.

Please email or call with your comments and questions. It's an honor to work for you!
