Dear Neighbors and Friends,

I am sorry I didn't send out an update last night as I normally do. We were working late last night and we started this morning at 10am on the House floor.

My hope is to send a very short update every remaining day of session for those that are watching the process of getting a state budget completed on time.

By 11:59 on Monday evening, we will hopefully have presented the governor with a second complete balanced budget to look over. These are roughly 10 major spending bills in certain areas (like education, tax relief, transportation, and more) and we intend to work with him in the next couple days to come up with compromise bills and a balanced budget the governor can sign. Our joint conference committees of House and Senate members are working diligently to craft these bills.

Right now, we’re planning to head back to the House floor this evening to start passing our second round of budget legislation. I will try and send another email within 24 hours with, I hope, good news about passing these bills and things moving in a good direction. I am still optimistic we all can get our work done on time.

Stay dry this weekend! And my gratitude and deep appreciation for all the volunteers working through the rain on Willmar's new Destination Playground.

Stay tuned.

Dave
