St. Paul, MN – Representative Dave Baker (R–Willmar) has been named a 2025 “Legislator of Distinction” by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC), recognizing his leadership and commitment to advocating for Greater Minnesota during the legislative session.
The award was presented July 24 during CGMC’s annual summer conference in Bemidji, where the organization recognized legislators who went above and beyond in championing Greater Minnesota’s priorities.

Baker worked across the aisle to protect critical workforce and economic development programs and pushed back against harmful cuts that rural communities could not absorb. He also played a key role in advancing a balanced conversation around employer mandates, especially regarding Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML). “I’m honored to have received this recognition from CGMC,” said Rep. Baker. “Our Greater Minnesota communities are full of potential, and I’ll keep working to ensure they are set up for success. That includes continuing the conversation on programs like PFML, which need to work for both employees and employers. If we want lasting solutions, we need to find a better balance that supports families without overburdening small businesses, local governments, and nonprofits.” A full list of CGMC award recipients is available here. ### |
