Koznick Connection: Legislative Update (February 14, 2024)

Wednesday, February 14, 2024

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

The 2024 legislative session is officially underway, and I’m proud to be back in the capital city advocating for you, our families, our freedoms, and our shared values.

Last year, Minnesotans saw firsthand the consequence of one-party control in St. Paul. Not only did Democrats blow through a nearly $20 billion surplus, grow government spending by 40%, and raise your taxes by nearly $10 billion, but they also sent the state into a projected budget deficit!

Now, more than ever, we need to restore balance in St. Paul and work to reduce families’ financial burden caused by record-setting inflation and high taxes. It’s time to eliminate the wasteful spending and stop pushing highly divisive policies like making Minnesota a Sanctuary State for illegal immigration or 'assisted' suicide for seniors.

You deserve a leader who fights for our families and state even when the battle is uphill, and we may seem outnumbered. I am honored to be that leader for you and the people of Credit River, Elko New Market, Lakeville, and the townships of Eureka and New Market.

Please take a moment to watch a brief video I recorded discussing the Four S’s that demonstrate the out-of-touch priorities of the Democrat majority heading into the 2024 legislative session:

  • State Flag Re-design
  • Sanctuary State Legislation
  • School Resource Officers
  • Senior Physician-Assisted Suicide

Get Involved: Precinct Caucuses, Tuesday, Feb 27th

The earliest and easiest way to get involved in local politics and to make your voice heard is to attend precinct caucus night on Feb. 27th.

To find your caucus location use this link.

Senate District 57 Democrats will meet at the Lakeville South High School.

Republicans will be at Lakeville North High School for Lakeville Precincts and Eureka Township, Eagle View Elementary for Elko New Market City and New Market Township, and Twin Oaks Middle School (Prior Lake) for Credit River.

Staying in Touch

Do not hesitate to share your concerns or if we can assist when dealing with a state agency.

Please share this Koznick Connection with neighbors who would be interested. They can sign up for future Koznick Connections here.

I look forward to seeing many of you around town in the coming days and weeks.

Happily advocating AND fighting for you,

Jon Koznick
State Representative
