On Wednesday morning, a construction worker was killed at the southbound I-35W construction zone in Burnsville. The worker, who was on foot, was struck by a construction vehicle with a boom attachment within the work zone. In response to the news, GOP House Transportation Committee Chair, Jon Koznick (R-Lakeville), released the following statement:
“As Chair of the Transportation Committee, we offer our deepest sympathy for the loss of this highway construction laborer, to the worker’s family, co-workers, and to those involved. This sad accident is a reminder of the difficult and dangerous work our construction professionals do every day to maintain our roads to keep Minnesota drivers safe and get us to where we need to go.
This tragedy is a reminder to always use caution and keep safety top of mind when driving, especially through construction zones. Road construction is a noble profession, and laborers deserve every courtesy in their work environments.”
