SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, Governor Tim Walz announced a third-party audit of billing for 14 Medicaid programs identified as having a particular risk of fraud, with payments subject to review in advance. Rep. Dave Pinto (DFL – Saint Paul), DFL lead on the House Fraud Prevention and Agency Oversight Policy Committee, issued the following statement:
“Fraud is completely unacceptable, and public dollars should go toward the public good – never to pad the pockets of bad actors. The Legislature provided funding in the 2025 session for the important audit announced today. It will help us to stop greedy individuals from exploiting government, taxpayers, and vulnerable people. As this work moves forward, it is critical that we continue to center the low-income families, seniors, people with disabilities, and veterans who depend on these services to live with dignity – and continue to hold accountable those who would seek to exploit them.”
