Dear Neighbors, Yesterday, the Minnesota House of Representatives approved legislation giving a bonus of up to $1,500 to frontline workers for their role in helping to protect Minnesotans during the pandemic. Every day during the pandemic, frontline workers went above and beyond their duty – risking their health and the health of their families – to keep our state running. Our gratitude for their work is not enough – it’s time to use part of our historic positive budget balance to reward these workers. With passage of the bill, now it’s time for the Minnesota Senate to approve our measure, then we can get these funds to these hard workers who have done so much for all of us. The bill dedicates $1 billion for bonus payments to thousands of frontline workers. Those eligible include long-term and home care workers, health care workers, teachers, and school staff, first responders, janitorial, maintenance, and security workers, bus drivers, child care workers and more.
