Hello friends and neighbors,
I would like to encourage you to attend the Grand Re-Opening of our State Capitol from August 11th to the 13th. This event will be a celebration of the Capitol’s extensive, four year restoration. The renovations are beautiful and I'm sure your whole family will appreciate the history and feel proud of our State Capitol building. Activities include: a ribbon cutting, tours, live performances, a kid zone, fireworks, an ice cream social, a craft beer garden, and much more. Click here for more information.
Congratulations to Local Farmers:
Congratulations to Bucks Unlimited (Goodhue County) as well as to Dean, Lois, Eric, and Chassidy Klein (Wabasha County) for being recognized as Farm Families of the Year! The Farm Family Recognition Program is coordinated by the University of Minnesota Extension; the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Sciences; and the College of Veterinary Medicine, and recognizes families from Minnesota's 87 counties who have made significant contributions to Minnesota agriculture and their communities. Farm Family recognition day will take place on Thursday, August 3rd at Farmfest.
Also, congratulations to the Oak Lawn Farm and Huseth Family Farm for being recognized as Century Farms, and to Craig and Kristine Holst and Perkins Family Farms for being recognized as Sesquicentennial Farms! Family Farms are some of the most important community assets in Greater Minnesota. I would like to commend these farms for their long-term commitment to feeding our state.
