Legislative Update-Veterans Day

Friday, November 10, 2017

Hello friends and neighbors,

This week, I want to honor our military veterans, as well as keep you up-to-date on a couple recent visits.

Veterans Day:

Today and tomorrow is a time to celebrate our nation’s veterans. We have over 300,000 veterans in Minnesota. I’d encourage you to say a special thank you to any vet in your life for Veterans Day. It’s tough to put into words how important our men and women in uniform are in maintaining our freedoms and liberties. To every veteran, or current service member, thank you for your incredible sacrifice, and all you’ve done for our country!

This morning, I was honored to take part in the Red Wing High School Veterans Day program. It was great to see our students’ support for our veterans. I know other area high schools held similar programs today.

Local Visits:

On Tuesday, I spoke to the Red Wing Rotary Club and on Wednesday I met with the Lake City Kiwanis and area high school students to talk to them about my first year in the legislature. We had a great discussion about the legislative process, the healthcare and education committees that I serve on, and where we’re heading this upcoming session. The students who attended are performing the play Footloose this weekend at Lake City High School. Please click here if you’re interested in attending!

Yesterday, I attended the Red Wing Area Manufacturer’s Association monthly meeting and a tour of Cannon Equipment in Cannon Falls. Cannon Equipment is a leader in industrial carts and conveyance and palletizing machinery for the dairy, automotive, and retail industries. I enjoyed learning more about their business and the jobs they provide in the Cannon Falls community.
