Rep. Morrison

Dear Neighbors,

Happy New Year! Although 2021 was a challenging year, we had some bright spots, too. Let’s open 2022 with hope and the sense of renewal that a new year brings. Here are twenty-one highlights of 2021!

New Laws Take Effect

Many new laws took effect on January 1, 2022. The list includes successful bills I authored at the legislature, including one which expands access to mental health services in Minnesota. New measures I was proud to support on a bipartisan basis also include adding workplace protections for new mothers, delivering funding to support law enforcement agencies, and more, here. Kare 11 also covered Minnesota’s new laws in a recent segment.

Public Safety Update

Our residents and families expect and deserve strong public safety. I continue to stay in frequent communication with local law enforcement for updates and how we can keep working together on community and state-based strategies to reduce the uptick we’re seeing in crime, especially in the west metro. I was grateful for the opportunity to connect with other suburban-area legislators, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Commissioner Harrington, and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Evans to discuss strategies to address crime and public safety.

Safe communities are the cornerstone for a healthy, thriving Minnesota, and I’ll continue to partner with local police, fire, and first responders to ensure they have the resources they need to provide the services our families rely on every day.

Infrastructure Town Hall-Save the Date

On Wednesday, January 12 at 6:30 p.m., I’m hosting an infrastructure town hall meeting at Shorewood Community Center to discuss local project needs in our area. Community members are encouraged to register and submit questions and input in advance to my new legislative assistant, Hans Dosland at hans.dosland@house.mn. The event will also be live streamed here.
