St. Paul, MN – Representative John Heinrich (R-Anoka) issued the following statement regarding the recent confirmation of Avian Influenza in poultry flocks in Minnesota.
“Minnesotans do not need to worry. Our poultry is safe to eat. We need to continue to support our farmers and buy Minnesota-grown chicken and turkey. This is another blow to the hardworking poultry farmers who already dealt with this in 2015. Today, we are prepared. Through years of work with the legislature and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, we have better testing equipment available, and more research has been done to understand this disease. Keep supporting Minnesota farmers whenever you can.”
