Thursday, June 6, 2024

St. Paul, MN - State Representative Ginny Klevorn (DFL-Plymouth), Chair of the State and Local Government Committee, has earned the 2024 MLC Legislator of the Year Award from the Municipal Legislative Commission (MLC). Chair Klevorn is being recognized for her work with local units of government regarding land use and local zoning.

“I’m humbled to have received this leadership award from the MLC,” said Rep. Klevorn. “Partnering with this distinguished organization charged with promoting the unique needs of our suburban communities is an honor and I look forward to continuing our good work together.”

“Plymouth is so fortunate to have Ginny Klevorn as their Representative,” said Jeff Wosje, member of the MLC, and Mayor of the City of Plymouth. “She is the champion for Plymouth at the Capitol.  She is a professional mediator and it shows, she listens to all sides, ensures all stakeholders have input, and focuses on positive outcomes. She is thoughtful and works to ensure legislation is well thought out.  She truly does seek first to understand. Ginny does not just serve, she leads, in every aspect of the word.  Plymouth is lucky to have her represent them in the Legislature.”

The MLC began its advocacy in 1984 to provide a voice at the State Capitol for a group of 19 suburban communities who shared common demographic, economic, and tax base characteristics.

"Rep. Ginny Klevorn is the type of state legislator every citizen should want to represent them,” said MLC Chair Jim Hovland and Mayor of the City of Edina.

“ She is ever thoughtful and fair-minded, hard-working and relentless in her dedication to others. And the human qualities she possesses, namely kindness, compassion, understanding and intelligence, help make her a leader in the public service arena. They get no better than Ginny Klevorn."
