Special Session Update - Jobs & Energy Bill

Saturday, May 25, 2019
Not sure why, but we are cranking through bills now!!

The Jobs & Energy Bill is much more jobs than it is energy. The GOP Senate blocked nearly all environment, climate, and energy provisions in the bill. It is very unfortunate. The bill passed 87-39.

The major item that was able to be negotiated between the House and Senate about the Wage Theft provisions in the bill that will protect Minnesota workers!

Here's what happens. Minnesotans deserve an hour of pay for an hour of work and the wage theft prevention and enforcement provisions ensure that those who knowingly and with malice steal from their employees will be held accountable!

It is really good!

The bill also helps dairy farmers, disabled workers, and funds child care.

Unfortunately, in addition to the energy provisions, the bill does not include the Paid Family and Medical Leave bill or Sick and Safe Time.

You can see the provisions in the Jobs Bill here --> https://www.house.mn/bills/SS2019bill.asp

PS: The Senate is working through the night, as well. They have passed many bills and are taking up the bills we have passed and vice versa.
