Update from Rep. Tabke: 50th Earth Day & Stimulus Check Assistance

Today marks the 50th Earth Day celebration, and the weather is certainly beckoning us to go outside and enjoy it. Some fellow members of the House Climate Action Caucus sat down with Vice President Walter Mondale to mark the occasion, which you can listen to here. 

As part of the Climate Action Caucus, Rep. Tabke authored legislation to improve Minnesota's water quality and wildlife habitat by adding more land to the Conservation Reserve Program. You can find more information on that bill here. 

A reminder that Governor Walz’s recent executive order expanded available outdoor activities during the “Stay at Home” order, including the opening of parks and trails. You can find more info on Minnesota’s parks and trails here, and specifics on those in Scott County here. When out and about, just remember to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Assistance for Minnesotans Applying for Stimulus Payment Checks

By now, many members of our community who had their banking information on file with the IRS have received their federal stimulus checks via direct deposit. For some Minnesotans, instead of automatically getting the stimulus check, they’ll have to submit an application. This can be a confusing process, and to assist Minnesotans, Legal Aid's Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic is available to help submit the necessary forms.
