Rep. Tabke Supports Distribution of  $853 Million in CARES Act Funding

St. Paul, MN- Today, Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan announced a plan to distribute $853 million in relief to communities across the state impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Bills reflecting this formula were passed by both the House and the Senate, but a final agreement couldn’t be reached. $841 million will be distributed to Minnesota counties, cities, and towns to support local government coronavirus relief efforts. $12 million will be allocated toward food shelves and food banks. The funding was authorized under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

“This funding will go a long way towards supporting our local economies. By funding our local governments Governor Walz is ensuring that these funds will be put to the best use possible,” said Rep. Tabke (DFL - Shakopee.) “Shakopee and Scott County have been through a lot in the last few months and this funding will help ensure that our community can continue to persevere through this crisis.”

Representative Tabke represents portions of Shakopee, Jackson Township, Louisville Township, and Scott County which will receive $3.1 million, $36 thousand, $34 thousand, and $17 million respectively, under the Governor’s plan.
