Safely Ending COVID-19 Restrictions

Yesterday, Governor Walz announced a timeline to end most of Minnesota’s COVID-19 restrictions. The three-step plan begins today. The final step is lifting the statewide masking requirement once 70 percent of Minnesotans who are 16 or older get vaccinated or on July 1, whichever comes first.

RESTRICTIONS

Since the youngest Minnesotans aren’t eligible for the vaccine yet, the current Safe Learning Plan will continue until the end of the school year. The eviction moratorium, a ban on price gouging, and eligibility exemptions for people who receive state services will also remain in effect. You can find more information about the plan at staysafe.mn.gov

Every Minnesotan who gets vaccinated brings us closer to the end of this pandemic. If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, please make a plan to do so. You can use the COVID-19 Vaccine Connector to find vaccination opportunities nearby.

Conference Committee Work

As we’ve wrapped up our major budget bills in the House, our work now has shifted to conference committee action. All major areas of the budget have appointed conferees; five from the House and five from the Senate, to find common ground on different provisions within each chamber’s version of the bill. Our constitutionally required date to adjourn is May 17, and we’re working hard in the House to ensure we can deliver a budget that prioritizes students, families, small businesses, and communities so we can recover from the pandemic and thrive once it’s behind us.

Keep in Touch

Please reach out anytime with input, ideas, or questions at rep.robert.bierman@house.mn or 651-296-5506. Don’t hesitate to let me know how I can provide assistance.

It’s an honor to serve our Apple Valley and Lakeville neighbors at the State Capitol.

Sincerely,

Robert Bierman

State Representative
