ST. PAUL, MN—State Representative Paul Novotny, R-Elk River, announced today that Independent School District 728 has been selected as a recipient of the 2021 Youth Skills Training (YST) Grant in the amount of $100,000. The funding enables the school district to partner with local employers to develop and implement safe, healthy, and meaningful paid work experiences for students in the health care industry.
“This funding will provide local students with the opportunity to gain meaningful paid work experience in the health care industry,” said Rep. Novotny. “The health care industry continues to play an important role in our community and state. Preparing local students for the careers of tomorrow is something we can and should all support.”
The grants are part of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry’s YST program, which was signed into law in 2017 with bipartisan support.
