RELEASE: Igo Statement on IRRRB Funding for Huber Engineered Woods Facility in Cohasset

Monday, June 21, 2021

ST. PAUL —State Representative Spencer Igo, R-Grand Rapids, issued the following statement regarding the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB) approving a $15.6 million forgivable loan for a project that will bring more than 150 new jobs to Itasca County. The loan is a financial incentive for Huber Engineered Woods to build a new 800,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Cohasset.

“Today is a great day for Itasca County and our Northland as more than 150 well-paying jobs will be coming to the community in the near future,” said Rep. Igo. “Huber is wisely making a significant investment in the best workforce in the nation—the hard-working men and women of the Iron Range. I want to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to the IRRRB for supporting this important project and look forward to welcoming Huber to the area.”

The $15.6 million package is one of the largest in IRRRB history. Rep. Igo seconded the motion to provide the funding during this morning’s IRRRB meeting.

Igo, a freshmen member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, represents Cohasset and the surrounding area in the Minnesota House and has been working with Huber, Itasca County, the Iron Range Delegation in the House and Senate, and the IRRRB to secure the funding needed to bring this project to his community.
