ST. PAUL, Minn. — Today, the Co-Chairs of the Minnesota Legislature’s Inclusive Democracy Caucus - Senator Liz Boldon (DFL-Rochester), Representative Cedrick Frazier (DFL-New Hope), and Representative Emma Greenman (DFL-Minneapolis) – released the following statement on President Trump's most recent unconstitutional attempts to interfere with state election administration:
“The President does not have the power to set the rules of our elections — states and Congress do. Yet again today, Donald Trump ignores the Constitution and the law in his attempt to undermine representative democracy. A President who spreads election conspiracies, demands congressional maps be rigged in his favor, and tries to ban vote by mail and voting machines without the Constitutional authority to do so, is one who knows he will lose without manipulating the rules and silencing the public.
“In Minnesota, we know a little something about free and fair elections that give everyone a voice and a vote in their democracy. As Minnesota legislators, we will continue to defend Minnesota voters and our free and fair elections from Trump’s unconstitutional attacks.”
