Rep. Emma Greenman votes in favor of H.F. 28, the “Restore the Vote” Act

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Last night, the Minnesota House of Representatives voted to pass HF 28, known as the “Restore the Vote” Act, off the House floor. The bill would restore voting rights to individuals upon completion of any incarceration.

Rep. Emma Greenman (DFL – Minneapolis) is a co-author of the bill and released the following statement:

"In my career, I’ve been fortunate to work with some amazing individuals who have the passion and the drive to be active members of their community. But because of confusing and dehumanizing laws, they couldn’t vote in the communities they loved.

This bill tonight rights that wrong. It establishes a fair rule that if you’re a citizen living in our community, you can vote. Voting is a cornerstone of a healthy democracy, and it ensures that citizens have a voice in decisions that impact their lives. This is the right thing to do for Minnesotans and I’m proud to support it.”

Video of the debate and vote can be found on the House Public Information page.
