Representative Mueller Statement on the November Budget Forecast Saint Paul, MN — This morning Minnesota Management and Budget released their November budget forecast for the upcoming and following biennium. Their report projects a 1.1 billion dollar decrease in the surplus compared to the last budget forecast as well as an over 5 billion dollar deficit in the 2028-29 budget. Representative Patricia Mueller (R – Austin) followed up the report with this to say: “As we warned last biennium, reckless government spending has consequences, and we are now beginning to see those consequences on the horizon of this upcoming budget.” Said Representative Mueller. "The repercussions of this fiscal irresponsibility are no longer theoretical—they are staring us in the face as we look ahead to next budget. Minnesotans are already feeling the crushing weight of increased taxes and fees from the last session’s runaway spending spree. As we head into the next legislative session, we must slam the brakes on this unsustainable path and fight to restore fiscal sanity. It's time to respect hardworking Minnesotans and protect their tax dollars before the damage becomes irreversible." ### |
