Legislative UpdateDear Friends and Neighbors, It has been a busy and eventful week here at the Capitol and in our community, and I’m excited to share some of the highlights with you. From the start of our 2025 Legislative Session to meaningful interactions with local students and educators, I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and represent you. Here’s an update on what I’ve been up to! ![]()
Sworn in as Your Representative!![]() On Tuesday, January 14, I had the honor of being sworn in as your state representative in the Minnesota House of Representatives. This marks the beginning of my second term, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to come back to St. Paul to serve you, the residents of District 57B. As your voice at the Capitol, I am committed to working tirelessly to represent your concerns, priorities, and values. It is a privilege to serve this community, and I will always strive to ensure that your needs are at the forefront of my work. As we begin the 2025 Legislative Session, my focus is on improving life for Minnesotans across the state. I am excited to share that I will be serving as the GOP Vice Chair on the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee; I will also serve on the Taxes Committee. My priorities this session will focus on tackling fraud in state government, making Minnesota more affordable by repealing harmful taxes, and ensuring public safety by supporting law enforcement and first responders. I will work to reduce unnecessary mandates on schools, protect taxpayer dollars, and push for infrastructure reforms that remove bureaucratic obstacles while maintaining high standards. My legislative priorities align directly with the work I’m doing in Committee and will help make Minnesota a safer, more affordable, and prosperous place for all.
Historic Moment: Lisa Demuth Elected Speaker of the House![]() On Tuesday, history was made when Representative Lisa Demuth—District 13A was elected as the first GOP female Speaker of the House and the first Speaker of color in Minnesota's history. It’s been an absolute privilege to work closely with Lisa over the past few years. Her hard work, dedication, and leadership are unmatched, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this role. I look forward to working with her in this new capacity as we work toward a better future for all Minnesotans.

![]() A Bright Future for Minnesota: Youth in GovernmentThis week, I had the privilege of witnessing the incredible potential of Minnesota’s youth during the 71st annual Youth in Government session at the Capitol. Students in grades 8-12 came together to engage in hands-on experiences that gave them a deeper understanding of our democracy. I was inspired by their passion, dedication, and willingness to collaborate on the issues that matter most. I’d like to extend special congratulations to Ellie Aars, a senior from Lakeville, who served as the Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court during this session. Her leadership is a shining example of what’s possible when young people engage in our democratic process. To all the students who participated, your enthusiasm for civic engagement is truly inspiring. The future of Minnesota is in good hands! ![]() Principal for the Day!I also had the honor of stepping into the role of "Principal for the Day" at both Eastview Elementary and Cherryview Elementary in Lakeville. Thank you to Principals Akin and Helberg for the warm welcome and for allowing me to see our schools in action. It was a joy to witness the energy and dedication of both students and educators. During my visits, I had the chance to hear directly from school leaders about the challenges and opportunities facing our schools. It was a reminder of why we must continue to advocate for the resources and support our educators and students need to succeed. I am proud of the work happening in Lakeville ISD 194 and will continue to push for policies that ensure our schools are well-supported and equipped to help every student thrive. |
Thank You For Your Support! As always, I am deeply grateful for the trust and support you have placed in me to represent our district in the Minnesota House. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have. I am here to serve you, and I look forward to continuing this journey together. Sincerely, Representative Jeff Witte District 57B
