Legislative Update![]() Dear Friends and Neighbors, I wanted to take a moment to share a quick update on what’s happening at the Capitol. As we continue moving through this legislative session, I’m more committed than ever to making sure the work we’re doing truly benefits our community. Every day, I’m collaborating with my colleagues to ensure the policies we’re pushing forward serve all Minnesotans. I’ve been spending a lot of time meeting with constituents, community groups, and local businesses to listen and learn. Your feedback is invaluable. I’m focused on finding real solutions to lower taxes—especially property taxes—and make sure the resources we have are being used in the most effective way possible to help those who need it most. While we wait for the return of our colleagues, my priority is making sure that the things that matter most to you stay front and center. We’re working hard to improve public safety, strengthen education, and ensure that our state’s budget is not only responsible but also reflective of our shared values. Every step we take together is with the goal of building a better, stronger future for all of us. I can’t thank you enough for your continued support, it means more than you know. With your voices and partnership, we are making a difference. Together, we are shaping a future that works for everyone in our community. Thank you for standing with me as we keep working toward a stronger, brighter tomorrow.
Introducing the "Make Minnesota Safe" Plan![]() As your representative, I am excited to share our latest legislative initiative—the "Make Minnesota Safe" plan. This comprehensive proposal is designed to:
Our plan includes 13 key provisions, such as:
We are also working to improve public access to prosecutors’ charging decisions and court sentencing departures. By implementing these reforms, we aim to empower law enforcement, prioritize victims’ rights, and restore trust in the justice system. Transparency in how the justice system operates is crucial for building trust, and this proposal will help ensure that Minnesotans know how their system is working and where improvements are needed. Together, we can make Minnesota a safer place for all! You can watch the full press conference here.
A Conversation with Local Leaders![]() ![]() On Tuesday, I had the privilege of meeting with directors from Hy-Vee, one of Lakeville's largest and most impactful employers. It was an amazing opportunity to listen, learn, and better understand the challenges and successes of our local businesses. Thank you for all that you do to enrich our community!
Retailers Day at the Capitol: Championing Solutions for Our Communities![]() ![]() I was honored to kick off Retailers Day at the Capitol as the keynote speaker. I expressed my gratitude for their contributions and shared insights on our legislative priorities. Drawing on my 27 years of service as a police officer, I pledged my commitment to advancing one of their top concerns: the establishment of a task force to tackle Organized Retail Crime. I emphasized the importance of finding common-sense solutions and encouraged attendees to connect with me whenever they are in town. Together, we can craft legislation that supports our business community and protects consumers.
Celebrating Success: Lakeville Chamber Annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony![]() Thursday night was a wonderful celebration at the Lakeville Chamber's Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony. A special congratulations to Steve Allen, General Manager of Brackett’s Crossing Country Club, for being named the 2024 Lakeville Chamber Business Person of the Year! This honor is a testament to Steve's years of hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to both Brackett’s Crossing and the broader Lakeville community. Well done, Steve—this recognition is well deserved!
Staff Spotlight: Dominica Bernstein![]() This week, I’d like to shine a spotlight on my incredible Media Writer, Dominica Bernstein. Dominica joined my team for her first term at the Minnesota House of Representatives and has already made an impressive impact. From managing communications to crafting thoughtful messaging, Dominica has been instrumental in helping share our legislative priorities with the community. A bit about Dominica: She recently graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Theology. When not at the Capitol, she enjoys running, spending time at the lake, and visiting her family in Northern Minnesota. Thank you, Dominica, for your hard work and commitment to serving the residents of District 57B!
