Rep. Kristi Pursell’s Statement on Passage of State Bonding Bills

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed H.F. 669 and H.F. 670, two bills related to capital investment. The bills, authored by Representative Fue Lee (DFL – Minneapolis), passed on votes of 91-43 and 98-36 respectively, and were both products of the bipartisan framework agreement reached at the end of the 2022 Legislative Session.

Representative Kristi Pursell (DFL – Northfield) voted for the package, which includes $8.19 million to create the Mill Towns Trail, a 6.5-mile trail between Northfield’s Riverside Park and the Waterford Historic Bridge in Waterford Township. The route would be part of a broader project to connect the cities of Faribault, Dundas, Northfield, Waterford, Randolph, and Cannon Falls.

“The Mill Towns Trail will be a fantastic addition to our region, and I am so glad it was included in the bonding bill,” said Rep. Pursell. “This project has been a part of Northfield’s climate action plan and will provide a non-motorized city corridor that makes our communities more environmentally friendly and a better place to visit, live, and raise a family. I am excited to use the trail with my kids and I look forward to all the visitors who will be able to ride from Mankato to Red Wing and may even stop in Northfield along the way once it is complete.”
