Minnesota House passes Driver’s Licenses for All off House Floor

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Today, the Minnesota House voted to pass HF 4, known as “Driver’s Licenses for All” off the House floor. The bill, co-led by Rep. Aisha Gomez (DFL - Minneapolis) and Rep. Maria Isa Pérez-Vega (DFL - Saint Paul), would allow Minnesotans to once again obtain a driver’s license regardless of citizenship status. Rep. Liz Lee (DFL – Saint Paul) is a co-author on the bill.

“I’m proud that my colleagues and I are using our Trifecta to help restore a privilege taken away by a Republican Governor two decades ago at the height of anti-immigrant and xenophobic rhetoric in our country,” said Rep. Lee. “Our immigrant communities work hard to feed us, take care of our elders, and so much more. I am proud that all of our neighbors – regardless of visa status – will once again be able to participate in society with the dignity they deserve.”

In the Senate, the bill is making its way through committee hearings.
