Rep. Liz Lee Votes For, House Passes Bill to Ban Conversion ‘Therapy’ for Minors

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Today, the Minnesota House proudly passed HF 16, which bans conversion ‘therapy’ for minors and vulnerable adults. Conversion therapy is a dangerous, harmful practice that has been discredited numerous times because it has no basis in medical science.

Rep. Liz Lee (DFL - St. Paul) co-authored and voted for the legislation.

“The irreparable harm from this practice can never be undone. This is why it was so important for me and my colleagues to vote YES tonight, to protect the future of children in Minnesota, and everywhere else, so that they can grow up to be their authentic selves,” said Rep. Lee. “Our children are always listening. And the deluge of anti-LGBTQ legislation that has been introduced and passed in different states across the country, including across our state borders, has been incredibly devastating. As legislators, we need to lead the way, making sure that the most vulnerable children in our community are protected and supported.”

In the Senate, the bill is making its way through the committee process.
