Rep. Krista Knudsen Applauds President Trump for Signing HALT Fentanyl Act into Law St. Paul, MN — State Representative Krista Knudsen (R-Lake Shore) issued the following statement after President Donald Trump signed the HALT (Halt All Lethal Trafficking of) Fentanyl Act into law this week: “I applaud President Trump for taking decisive action by signing the HALT Fentanyl Act into law. This is a major step forward in addressing the deadly opioid crisis that continues to tear apart families and communities across the country. Here in Minnesota, I authored a bill that became law to increase penalties for those who expose children to fentanyl. While a provision to protect vulnerable adults was removed in final negotiations, this law is a critical step forward. These are not victimless crimes, and we must treat them with the seriousness they deserve. The federal action taken this week reinforces the work I've been doing at the state level and sends a clear message that we are committed to holding offenders accountable. President Trump’s attention to this issue is important for public safety and for the thousands of Americans who are struggling with the devastating impact of fentanyl. The HALT Fentanyl Act will give law enforcement stronger tools to fight back and help save lives.” Rep. Knudsen continues to advocate for policies that support law enforcement, strengthen accountability, and protect Minnesota families from the growing threat of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids. |
