SAINT PAUL – Legislation authored by Rep. Mike Wiener, R-Long Prairie, received a committee hearing on Tuesday in the House Taxes Committee. House File 4892 exempts sales and use taxes for materials purchased by the Browerville Public School District for renovations to the prekindergarten through grade 12 school building and construction of a new gymnasium, classrooms, locker rooms, a wrestling and weight room, offices, and a stage.
“This legislation is a way to help defray some of the costs associated with these important projects for the Browerville School District,” said Wiener. “By working to lower costs of construction, we can help save taxpayers money and make sure it is easier for the district to make these improvements that will serve students, teachers, staff, and the entire community.”
School officials were forced to demolish the high school's gym after damage to the roof following a snow storm in April, 2023.
House File 4892 was laid over for possible inclusion in this year's Taxes bill.
