Statement from Representative Dawn Gillman ST. PAUL, MN – State Representative Dawn Gillman, R-Dassel, released the following statement: “I am devastated by the tragic loss of Speaker-Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. This senseless act of violence has shaken our Capitol family and left so many of us heartbroken. To the Hortman family, her friends, and colleagues—my deepest condolences. Melissa’s leadership and commitment to public service touched lives across Minnesota, and her absence will be profoundly felt. Please join me in prayer for my cousin through marriage, Senator John Hoffman, and his wife Yvette, as they recover from an attempted attack on their lives. I am praying for healing, peace, and strength for them in the days ahead. The entire Minnesota Legislature mourns this loss.
