WHAT'S NEW?

Badge

The Burnsville tragedy has been very heavy on my heart this week, as I am certain it has been for all of you. All law enforcement, fire department personnel and first responders are the most important aspects of our communities, as they are always willing to put their lives on the line to help others in need. I know the vast majority of residents respect and appreciate what these heroes do for our cities and counties. My thanks to all of you who keep us safe.

LEGISLATION HIGHLIGHTS

ELIMINATE DARK MONEY! UNLESS IT HELPS DEMOCRATS….

I’m told the Elections committee used to be a place where only bipartisan legislation would be approved. Sadly, no more.

This week a Democrat bill was heard that contains a memorial resolution to Congress, requesting on behalf of the legislature that Congress propose a constitutional amendment that states spending money to influence elections is not speech under the First Amendment. This would be an attempt to limit “dark money” in Minnesota’s elections.

When an amendment was offered to include nonprofits and unions in this legislation – along with corporations - every Democrat on the committee voted no, and then eventually approved the bill without it.

It’s a bold move. In this state, some of the largest contributions each election cycle come from nonprofits and unions. Almost all of their money is targeted to Democrats. We’re talking millions of dollars and Republicans are always massively outspent when it comes to “dark money.”

And yet an attempt to truly state that no “dark money” is welcome was ignored.

Most likely you did not see this video in the news, but rest assured House Republicans show up day-after-day and fight for Minnesotans. As you can see from this short video, our first elections committee meeting got a little spicy right out of the gate. Watch the nonsense by clicking here.

REMINDER: Follow me on “X” formerly known as Twitter – this video has over 17,000 views on Twitter. People want the truth and through social media we can break through the narrative.

Want more bad ideas from the Democrat trifecta? How about allowing people to vote if they can’t give a home address? I was quoted in this story by Alpha News, click here to learn more.

DNR - DEER DEGRADATION IN THE SOUTH AND WOLVES IN THE NORTH

Van

A concern I’ve heard from many area farmers deals with the over-population of deer in our area and the crops they eat. In some areas, they are eating alarming amounts.

I can tell you firsthand there are a lot of deer out there, as I ran into a deer off Highway 19 in December.

Having driven on this road for the last 19 years, I can tell you it used to be rare to see a deer. Now, it is common to see large herds of deer in fields along this stretch of highway.

In southeastern Minnesota we are seeing deer overpopulation. That’s not the case up north, as our friends there are complaining wolves have almost destroyed the deer population and are now moving on to livestock and pets and are causing other problems.

I understand this problem is bothersome and costly to farmers with crop losses and to insurance companies who are paying out heavily in vehicle and crop damage, and am disappointed the DNR has not taken actions to control the deer in our district. I will be looking at legislative options to help manage this problem. However, it is disappointing and a sign of a dysfunctional government knowing that we have a state agency in place to handle these issues, but it appears, for whatever reason, they can’t manage this problem.

VISITORS FROM AROUND THE DISTRICT

Over the last couple of weeks I have had the opportunity to meet with many representatives from our district. In addition to the Wabasha County township officers bi-yearly meeting, I’ve also met with the Goodhue County commissioners.

Goodhue

Goodhue & Wabasha County Health & Human Services.

Health

The Red Wing City Council, Goodhue County Sheriff, and members of the Lake City & Red Wing Chambers of Commerce.

I love having the opportunity to meet and to get to know more of the people in our district. Hearing your concerns and issues are my top priority and are vital towards understanding how I can best represent the constituents in my district.

Louie

NEW TITLE “GRANDMA”

Meet Louie!

He was born in August and is my first grandchild.

What a blessing he is!

As I talk to people, I know there is frustration of what is happening politically in our state and at the national level. This is why I’ve chosen to serve, to try and make things better for my family, my kids, my grandchild, and for you.

Take time pray and spend extra time with your family, because that really is what is most important.
