It was FFA Day at the Capitol this week, and the blue coats are always a welcome sight!
The FFA students visited our ag and environment committees. These kids are so well spoken and professional, and they ask good questions. Most of us worry about the future but when you see the FFA students in action you realize the state is going to be just fine someday. For me, FFA Day is always one of the most enjoyable days on the legislative calendar.
UPDATED STATE BUDGET FORECAST
Minnesota’s economic experts recently unveiled an updated budget forecast for the remainder of this biennium, showing a $3.7 billion surplus. But in the next budget cycle, expenses and inflation are outpacing expected revenue collections by roughly $3.4 billion. This means any spending lawmakers approve this year would grow the budget deficit in the next biennium.
SUPPORTING THE SAVE ACT
This week, I signed a letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune urging the United States Senate to take immediate action on the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. As stated in the letter, enactment of this vital reform is essential to safeguard voter eligibility, combat fraud, and ensure voting remains the prerogative of American citizens in 2026 and beyond.
IMPEACH GOVERNOR WALZ AND ATTORNEY GENERAL ELLISON
Articles of impeachment have been filed in the Minnesota House of Representatives against Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison for corrupt conduct in office. I was one of the first representatives to sign on. At least $9 billion lost to fraudsters on their watches and both refused to do anything about it, and in some cases, the administration actually tried to cover it up. Minnesotans are rightfully fed up, as am I.
NEEDY HUMAN SERVICES RECIPIENTS HIT HARD
Speaking of fraud, in our human services committee it seems fraud issues come at us one after another. We are hardly helping citizens anymore as our hands are now tied behind our back, dealing with fraud prevention at every turn. We look at a program and first have to figure out how fraudsters can steal the money before you can actually help out our residents who need it. It’s truly sad, but the reality of a situation when top Democrats purposely ignore the state government theft happening right under their noses.
