Legislative Update – September 14, 2023

Dear neighbors,

I hope you have had a great summer and were able to get out and enjoy all the great festivals, parades, parks, and more that our communities have to offer! I have been glad to be back in our district meeting with our partners in local government, businesses, and constituents to talk about what we passed last session and what you would like to see prioritized in 2024!

In case you missed it, I released my 2023 Legislative Report, which details just some of the policies passed during this year’s historically productive legislative session. From local investments like passing $7 million to improve the Chankahda Trail, addressing climate change, making health care more accessible and affordable, and investing in public safety, we stepped up and passed the bills Minnesotans were asking for when they sent us to St. Paul.

Happy Back to School!

Our students are back in the classroom, and I wanted to highlight some of the great things included in this year’s Education Budget! I was proud to vote for our bill that makes record investments into our local schools, supports stronger literacy instruction, creates more Pre-K spots, and more!

Maple Grove Public Safety Training Center

Earlier this summer, I was proud to attend the ribbon cutting for the addition to the North Metro Regional Public Safety Training Facility alongside fellow Representatives, Senators, and law enforcement leaders. The project was partly funded by the legislature’s Capital Investment Committee, which I serve on, and will be used by over 20 agencies.
