Release: Rep. Rehm invites Chanhassen and Chaska neighbors to apply to new Active Transportation Advisory Committee

Monday, August 21, 2023

St. Paul, Minn. - State Rep. Lucy Rehm (DFL-Chanhassen) invites community members residing in Chanhassen and Chaska to apply for the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s new Active Transportation Advisory Committee. This legislative-authorized committee will be charged with advising and making recommendations to the Commissioner of Transportation and the Active Transportation Coordinator to direct this new program, funding, and resources.

“The Minnesota Active Transportation Advisory Committee will be composed of 18 community members and 11 direct appointments from state agencies that serve as a central advisory body to develop active transportation goals for walking, bicycling, rolling, etc. and standards in Minnesota,” said Rep. Rehm. “Kids walking to school, parents with strollers, our aging loved ones who use canes or wheelchairs- they all deserve to be safe when they’re out and about in our community. I encourage our neighbors to apply to share what’s working in the southwestern suburbs, and what we can improve upon.”

The deadline for applications will be end-of-day on Monday, September 4 (Labor Day). Interested community members can apply here: https://commissionsandappointments.sos.state.mn.us/.../321

Representative Lucy Rehm serves on the Sustainable Infrastructure, Education Finance, Agriculture Finance and Policy, and the Climate and Energy Finance and Policy House Committees. She is the author of a new e-bike tax credit and helped deliver $28,605 in grant funding for Chaska through the Safe Routes to School program.

All constituents are invited to attend and bring questions and comments. Rep. Rehm can be reached by phone at 651-296-5066 or by email at rep.lucy.rehm@house.mn.gov
