Neighbors,
We have reached the busiest time of the Legislative Session, as we begin passing budget bills on the House Floor. After these bills pass the House, we enter negotiations with the Senate and the Governor on a final version that we must pass before our May 19 adjournment date.
In a 67-67 tied House, all our budget bills result from compromises between DFLers and Republicans. But DFLers are using every chance we have to fight for a budget that preserves the progress we made last term, protects Minnesota from the chaos and corruption of the Trump/Musk administration, and supports Minnesota workers and families.

Thank you to everyone who came to our Minneapolis Town Hall with Rep. Ilhan Omar and the Minneapolis Delegation. It was truly inspiring to see so many of our neighbors coming together to push back against the dangerous Trump/Musk agenda coming down from D.C.

Together, we can raise our voices as one and fight to protect our social security, protect our health care, and protect our neighbors, workers, children, and families. You can watch my comments on Rep. Omar’s page here at the 12:00 mark, where I talk about the impact of Medicare cuts on our communities.
We have a housing shortage in our state and our city. That’s why I was so glad to be appointed to the Housing Committee. Our committee had members from both parties and across the state who were serious about making progress on housing, and that is what our 2025 Housing Budget bill does.
Everything else in life is harder if you don’t have a safe and secure place to call home, which is why Republicans and Democrats worked together to put forward meaningful investments aimed at keeping people in their homes and creating new affordable homeownership opportunities.
Our Housing Budget invests over $31 million in emergency rental assistance, which will help more than 8,000 Minnesotans stay in their home, $45 million towards the construction of new homes, and authorizes $100 million in Housing Infrastructure Bonds to fund the construction and renovations of affordable homes all over the state.

As the Trump administration claws back investments in affordable housing, Minnesota is stepping up to ensure more of our neighbors can afford a roof over their heads. We’ll do what we can, but with 100,000 housing units short of what Minnesotans need, we deserve a more serious partner in the White House.
You can read more about our Housing Budget here. The House and Senate have both passed their own Housing Budgets, with significant differences. We’ll hammer out those differences in a conference committee before passing a final version in the coming days.
I voted for our Agriculture Budget, which invests in Farm to School and Early Care programs, supporting local farmers and providing our children and families with healthy food. I also supported our Legacy bill, which uses funds raised by the Lottery to protect, preserve, and enhance our environment, water, parks and trails, and cultural heritage.
We passed our Public Safety and Judiciary budget, which works to protect our historic reforms, needed investments, and prevents regressive legislation, all while improving victim services, police training, and data protections for judges. I voted Yes on our Veterans Budget bill, which works to help Minnesota’s veterans as federal funding cuts leave them more at risk than ever before.
I voted against the Transportation Budget bill after hearing concerns from our neighbors in District 62B. Transportation remains the leading source of climate pollution in our state, and this bill would delay laws that are essential to addressing that impact. The proposed delay is both unnecessary and harmful. Additionally, the budget includes significant cuts to funding for transit, walking, and biking infrastructure—services our community relies on every day.
Constituent feedback is essential for me as your representative, and I will always seek to listen to and address your concerns. On each bill, I’m taking a holistic approach to see whether it will improve lives in our district, and I’ll keep fighting for a people-focused budget in these last couple of weeks of session.
