ST. PAUL – Minnesota’s 2026 legislative session began Tuesday and Rep. Scott Van Binsbergen, R-Montevideo, said it’s good to be back at the Capitol working for District 16A residents with crucial issues on tap for the coming months.
 “I’m glad to be back in St. Paul so we can keep pushing forward on last year’s local and statewide successes,” Van Binsbergen said. “There is a great deal of work ahead to tackle the fraud problem that has spiraled out of control in Minnesota, costing taxpayers billions of dollars. Those responsible must be tracked down and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law, and the same must apply to any state officials or employees found complicit in the misuse of taxpayer funds. “This session, we need to shut off the fraud faucet once and for all by passing practical, common-sense reforms that strengthen oversight and accountability in state programs. Minnesotans deserve a government that protects their tax dollars, not one that hands them to scammers and then asks families and businesses to pay more.” Van Binsbergen said House Republicans recently shared a list of priorities for the 2026 legislative session. - Make Minnesota Affordable
- Make Minnesota Safe
- Raise Standards, Reduce Mandates
- Make Minnesota Competitive
- Minnesota Tax Dollars for Minnesotans
