Legislative Update

1

I hope everyone had a great weekend. With only a few weeks left of the legislative session, we are spending long days on the floor discussing and debating large policy and finance bills. One bill of particular importance for our district is the bonding bill, which is used to address vital infrastructure throughout the state.

Investing In Local Infrastructure

From water mains to roads and bridges, water treatment plants, and PFAs systems, our communities need investments to provide clean drinking water and safe roads. As a member of the Capitol Investment Committee, I am working with elected leaders, city planners, engineers, and our neighbors to help address the needs across Minnesota and in almost every city in our district including Excelsior, Shorewood, Minnetonka Beach, Orono, Long Lake, Minnetrista, Tonka Bay, Spring Park and more to secure funding.

We recently secured over $10 million for clean drinking water in Mound, which will start a vital project that impacts thousands of families in the district.

Investing in infrastructure is vital for our community as we continue to grow. Infrastructure encompasses a wide range of essential systems and facilities, including transportation networks, utilities, and communication systems. These components are crucial for businesses to thrive, as they enable the efficient movement of goods and people, facilitate communication, support public services, and promote public health. Moreover, sustainable infrastructure investments can have long-term benefits for communities including cleaner air and water. Without adequate infrastructure, our communities face limitations in their ability to attract investments, create jobs, support schools, access the outdoors, and enhance the overall quality of life around the Lake Minnetonka Community.

As a dedicated advocate for community investment, I am also working with Minnesota’s Congressional delegates including Dean Phillips, Angie Craig, Amy Klobuchar, and Tom Emmer to help secure funding at the federal level for several local projects. I will continue to work with our entire community and all elected officials from both sides of the aisle to address those needs in our backyard.

My commitment to representing the voices of local leaders and our neighbors has been instrumental in securing funding that will positively impact our communities for years to come.
