Rep. Kresha Pushes for Dam Repairs on Platte and Sullivan Lakes

St. Paul, MN — Rep. Ron Kresha will be advancing a bonding request for $500,000 to support long overdue repairs to the Platte and Sullivan Lake dam in Morrison County. The dam collapsed in the early 2000s and has remained on the Department of Natural Resources priority list, but repairs have not moved forward.

Rep. Kresha has met with the Department of Natural Resources and Morrison County officials to discuss the ongoing problems and potential solutions. Low water levels caused by the damaged structure have affected property values, recreation, and wildlife throughout the Platte and Sullivan chain of lakes.

“This repair is long overdue, and I am hopeful the issue can be resolved,” said Rep. Kresha. “Residents have been patient but persistent about the dam rebuild.  I look forward to championing this issue and passing the funding in the MN House.”

Rep. Kresha has been a strong proponent of infrastructure projects for District 10A and has proven record of success.

The bonding bill will be introduced when the Legislature returns to session.
