Knudsen Responds to Walz Backing Out of Reelection Bid

St. Paul, MN — Following Governor Walz's announcement that he will no longer be running for an unprecedented third term, Representative Krista Knudsen (R-Lake Shore) issued the following statement:

"Governor Walz and his political allies have created a culture in Minnesota that has allowed industrial scale fraud in state programs for years. Although Walz thinks that 'deciding' not to run for another term is taking accountability for his actions, that is simply not the case. He and his administration will be held fully accountable for the damage they have done to the state, public trust, and taxpayers who are reeling from the exorbitant cost of the fraud here."

"Furthermore, fraud in these programs has hurt those who depend on the services, as tax dollars have been funneled towards fraudsters and away from Minnesotans in need. It is clear that replacing Walz with another Minnesota Democrat will not solve the fraud problem; rather, we need a full reset and a governor who will prioritize Minnesotans, not fraudsters. Minnesotan taxpayers deserve answers and cannot continue to fund Walz and his friends in fraud."
