PUBLIC SAFETY FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES


Representative Kelly Moller, Chair of the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:05 PM on February 24th, 2026, in Room 120 of the State Capitol Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Feist moved to approve the minutes of February 18, 2025. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 3433 (Greenman) Possession of semiautomatic military-style assault weapons banned, and criminal penalties provided.

HF3402 (Tabke) Possession of large-capacity ammunition magazines banned.

HF3404 (Klevorn) Criminal penalty for impersonating a peace officer increased, crime of impersonating a peace officer while possessing a firearm established, enhanced penalties established, persons presenting as peace officers required to fulfill duty to identify, and criminal penalties established.

Chair Moller moved that HF3404 be re-referred to the Ways and Means Committee.

Chair Moller moved the HF3404A3 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT IS ADOPTED.

Representative Klevorn and Representative Bahner presented HF3403 as amended.

HF3412 (Finke) Circumstances when a person may conceal their identity in public modified and specific exceptions for law enforcement officers created.
