MINUTES

Representative Paul Novotny, Chair of the Public Safety Finance & Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:01 PM on February 18, 2026, in Room 120 of the State Capitol Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Bliss moved to approve the minutes of April 9, 2025. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 1567 (Duran) Personal information protections provided to public safety officers.

Representative Duran moved HF 1567 before the committee with a recommendation it be placed on the General Register.

Representative Duran moved the H1567A4 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Novotny renewed the motion that HF 1567, as amended, be re-referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 2809 (Hudson) Crime of residential protesting established.

Representative Hudson moved HF 2809 before the committee with a recommendation it be placed on the General Register.


Representative Hudson moved the H2809A1 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Novotny laid over HF 2809, as amended.

HF 3380 (Hudson) Aggravated durational departure required for certain violent offenders who use a firearm, certain sentences required to be imposed consecutively to other sentences, and certain offenders required to serve an entire announced sentence in prison.

Representative Hudson moved HF 3380 before the committee.

An H3380DE2 amendment was filed with the committee.

Chair Novotny ruled the H3380DE2 amendment out of order.

Chair Novotny laid over HF 3380.
