PUBLIC SAFETY FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES


Representative Paul Novotny, Chair of the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:04 PM on March 25, 2026, in Room 120 of the State Capitol Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Feist moved to approve the minutes of March 24, 2026. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 4371 (Lee) Bureau of Criminal Apprehension required to perform background checks at the request of the Office of Legislative Auditor.

Chair Novotny moved HF 4371 before the committee with the recommendation it be re-referred to the General Register.

Chair Lee presented HF 4371.

HF 3826 (Witte) Identity theft crime; definitions modified and added, attorney general and county attorneys provided with additional subpoena authority, and statutes of limitations altered for fraud-related offenses.
