PUBLIC SAFETY FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES


Representative Kelly Moller, Chair of the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:00 PM on April 14th, 2026, in Room 120 of the State Capitol Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Curran moved to approve the minutes of April 8th, 2025. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF4446 (Johnson, P) Survivor benefits eligibility expanded to include when a public safety officer dies in the line of duty from an exposure-related cancer.

Chair Moller moved that HF4446 be laid over.

Representative Johnson moved the HF4446DE2 Amendment.

Chair Moller offered an oral amendment to the HF4446DE2 Amendment.

Page 3, Line 29, delete “February 1, 2020” and insert “January 1, 2020”
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT TO THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Moller moved that HF4066 be laid over.

Representative Johnson moved the HF4066DE3 Amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

HF4882 (Moller) Judiciary and public safety; theft of public funds, school safety, and emergency vehicles policy provided; first degree murder and impersonating a peace officer criminal provisions modified; firearms policies established; criminal penalties imposed; and money appropriated.

HF4882 was presented on an informational basis.
