After a largely ceremonial start to the 2017 legislative session Tuesday, members passed a bill Thursday designed to quickly help Minnesota taxpayers.

A tax conformity bill quickly received bipartisan support following a suspension of House Rules to declare an urgency, but a rules suspension for a health care insurance premium relief bill was met with deep partisan divide, ultimately failing on a 75-55 party-line vote. Two-thirds of members must support a rules suspension for it to occur.

Before looking ahead to next week let’s take a look at what you may have missed this week.
