Could Sunday liquor sales help fund treatment programs?

Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL-South St. Paul) had traditionally voted against the Sunday off-sale liquor sales law, but in 2017 he changed his vote to green. Hansen says he voted “yes” this time around because, in part, of the work being done to dedicate revenue from the sale of alcohol to treatment programs.

We kick off the 2018 season of “Starting Line” with a look at HF1091. The Hansen-sponsored bill would require sales taxes generated by off-sale Sunday liquor sales go toward funding chemical dependency treatment programs.
