Legislative Update - September 4, 2025

Dear neighbors,

Thank you to all of our community members that stopped by to say hello at the State Fair when I spent the day at the Minnesota House of Representatives’ booth. I enjoyed spending part of the Great Minnesota Get-Together connecting with neighbors and folks from all over the state.

Minnesota House State Fair Booth

Whether or not you were able to stop by, you can now see the results of our annual State Fair Survey put on by the nonpartisan House Public Information Services Office.

Nearly 10,000 Minnesotans filled out this year’s survey, answering questions ranging from gun control to stadium funding. Some interesting results, and I encourage you to take a look!

I also joined Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Sarah Strommen at the fair to recognize some of our best and brightest in 4-H and FFA for their outstanding conservation efforts. A huge shoutout to Kaylee Fischer from Lakeville and Andrew Schmitz from Paynesville for their outstanding work.

Only 357 days until next year’s fair!

Ag Department Seeks Public Input

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture - and the Minnesota Legislature - is seeking public input on legislative issues ahead of the 2026 legislative session. Farmers, food businesses, and others impacted by food and agriculture systems are invited to share policy and program suggestions.

The MDA is hosting a virtual public input session where people can share their ideas directly, in addition to an online form for written submissions open through Wednesday, September 10.

A virtual session will take place on Zoom today. Participation is free, but registration is required:

Inver Grove Heights Days

The Minnesota State Fair may be over, but the Inver Grove Heights Days are here until September 7!

You can check out the schedule of activities planned for this week on the event’s website, with a highlight being Saturday’s parade. The whole week is sure to be a fun time, and a great way to say farewell to summer.

High School Page Program

Over the last 50 years, the High School Page Program has been dedicated to providing students with an opportunity to learn and serve in the Minnesota House of Representatives. If you know an interested student, the High School Page application for current Juniors is now open until December 4th, 2025.

High School Page Program
This is a great opportunity for a young person interested in government. You can learn more about this program and how to apply here.
