Dear Neighbors,
We’re in the final week of the 2026 legislative session. All session long, we’ve been working to address the affordability crisis Minnesota families are facing. You should be able to afford your life on an average salary, but rising costs for health care, housing, child care, energy, and groceries are all eating into the ability of folks to stay ahead in the economy.
There are other big challenges we’re working to solve in these closing days, too. Personally, I’m focusing a lot of my attention on making sure Hennepin County Medical Center stays afloat. As a leading level one trauma center, people from across the region often find themselves there when they’re facing tough circumstances. There are a great deal of complex issues to work through regarding the financial picture of our Minnesota hospitals as they fight to stay open, but the situation HCMC is facing is especially dire. If we lose this resource, it will have rippling effects all across our health care system.
After we adjourn this weekend, I look forward to reflecting on the session with you and other community members. You’re invited to join me for a Session Recap Town Hall on Friday, May 22 at 7 p.m. We will meet at the Robert Trail Library in Rosemount. The event is free to attend and all constituents are invited.

Please continue to contact me anytime with input or questions. I appreciate hearing from you!
It’s an honor to represent you,
John
