Rep. Hussein 2026 Legislative Report

Wednesday, July 8, 2026

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for the honor of serving you in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Working alongside our neighbors, I’ve been fighting our community - our students, workers, small businesses, and everything that makes our corner of the Capital City a great place to live and raise a family.

It was an uphill battle for progress in our tied House, but we protected hard-fought wins and delivered transformational investments in our community. Over $81 million will go towards building local infrastructure projects and funding good-paying jobs in St. Paul, along with $630 thousand in Capital Area Economic Development Grants. We delivered $125 million in property tax cuts, and $250 million in car tab fee reductions. We also passed $100 million towards new, affordable homes, and $40 million in rental assistance, extending a lifeline to neighbors struggling to make ends meet.

I’m proud of this progress, but there’s much more work we need to do. If we had just one more DFL vote in the House, we would’ve enacted additional gun violence prevention measures, support and protections for those impacted by Operation Metro Surge, and solutions to make life more affordable for Minnesotans. I will never stop fighting for these issues, and for you.

Though the legislative session is over, please continue to reach out to my office to find ways we can work together to strengthen our community and state.

In solidarity

Samakab Hussein
