Dear Neighbors,

We have reached the halfway point of session, and I’m proud to report that several of my bills are making strong progress. Here’s where things stand:

OIG Cleared State Gov and Judiciary - Making Progress on Key Issues

• This week we took an important step by passing the bill to create an independent Office of the Inspector General out of the State Government Committee and Judiciary Committee.
• I am glad the both committees agreed to several of the changes I’ve been seeking since the start of session, including making the bill constitutional and adding to the duties of the office to prevent fraud from occurring rather than just investigating after the fact.
• There is still more work to do on this bill before it is ready to pass the House, but I look forward to working with my House colleagues in both parties to achieve that goal.

Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Bill On Its Way - Taking Fraud Seriously

• My bipartisan bill to crack down on Medicaid fraud has passed all the key committees in the House!
• It’s time to pass this bill into law and give the Attorney General’s Office the tools it needs to hold Medicaid fraudsters accountable.
• When this legislation passes off the House Floor and gets signed into law, fraudsters will face the consequences of their actions. This means ensuring our tax dollars go to those that need it the most.

Yellow Alert Bill Headed to House floor. - Inspired by Your Neighbor, Alexie Stephani

• Hit-and-run accidents are far too common, including a tragic one recently that killed a University of St. Thomas student.
• That’s why I’m proud to team up with my constituent Alexie Stephani on a bill that will pave the way for a Yellow Alert system here in Minnesota. Think Amber Alerts but for hit-and-runs.
• This week, the bill passed the Public Safety Committee and is headed to the House floor!
